The band's second tour, this time to Zell am See in the Austrian alps. We stayed in the youth hostel which was right on the edge of the lake, so most of the band went for a swim in the lake when we arrived! Excursions included a ride to the top of the snow-covered Kitzsteinhorn mountain, a visit to Krimml waterfalls (which it took us an hour to climb and we all got soaked when it rained on the way down), and a cable car ride to the top of the Schmittenhoe mountain from where there was a great view of the lake.
We also took a trip to Berchtesgaden in Germany, where we changed into miners' clothes and slid down a huge slide into salt mines, followed by a ride through the mines by train and boat. We spent a day in Salzburg, exploring the shops and cathedrals. We gave three concerts, a lakeside concert in Zell am See, an afternoon concert in Berchtesgaden, and one in the Mirabel Gardens in Salzburg. The highlight of the tour was a trip to a folk evening, where we saw bell ringing, saw-playing, alphorn playing and lots of traditional dances. The band were encouraged to join in with the dances, which produced many memorable moments!
